Hi. It’s me, RachieVee, and I’ve re-branded! This is my new site! Huzzah!
For those who have no idea what “RachieVee” is, it’s a monicker and a domain that I used years ago to start a very humble WordPress blog about ā well, WordPress! As a bright-eyed, bushy-tailed developer, one who graduated with a degree in Fine Arts, not Computer Science, I was frustrated by the lack of documentation out on the web. Or documentation full of lingo I didn’t yet understand.
I wanted to help other people, to break things down into layman’s terms, and lower the barrier to entry. I wanted to use my experiences to share tips, create tutorials, and to fill knowledge gaps.
For a time, it seems like I succeeded. No, I didn’t become a billionaire, but I did become more active in the WordPress community. Dare I say, I might have even become a trustworthy source of information. It had helped me network with fellow developers and WordPress peeps, introduced me to people that back then, I never dreamed would talk to me. Like me? Little ole’ me?

The RachieVee blog also helped me learn more cool stuff, and served as reliable proof that I knew this WordPress thing or at least was passionate enough about it to potential employers.
The RachieVee blog opened doors for me. So… what the heck happened?
After 2016, new blog posts on RachieVee slowed down until they were almost non-existent. I still got some traffic. Still had pings to my most popular post, “The WordPress hooks firing sequence!” where I dutifully dug into every hook that fired, listed a brief mention as to what said hook did, and wrote out the order they actually fire in. I even received comments and messages asking if I was still out there.
Truth is, I never stopped writing. I also never stopped learning. I just stopped sharing. At some point, especially when Gutenberg rolled around, I became unsure of myself. Whether the things I was learning or building was still relevant because I hadn’t yet jumped on the Gutenberg train.
A lot of real life stuff happened too. Big, hard, messy stuff that made writing feel impossible. Losing my mom, then weathering the pandemic like everyone else, left me completely drained creatively.
That chapter of life knocked the wind out of me, but Iām still standing.
So, fast forward ā here I am in 2025.
And so earlier this month, for some random reason, a momentary lapse in sanity maybe, I was like, “Hey, you know what? I don’t really need this blog thing, do I? I haven’t written anything new in five years?”
So what did I do? I cancelled my hosting. And didn’t bat an eye.

And as if the universe thought I needed a knock upside the head, what my mother would lovingly refer to as a cocotazo, not even kidding, two weeks later, I found myself unemployed. Crap on a stick!
In a panic, I checked the renewal cost ā and decided it was time for a cheaper fresh start. (At least for the first year, but that’s a future Rachel problem, not a today Rachel problem.)
Thus, RachieVee.com died, and from its ashes came this new site: part portfolio, part tech blog.
And yes, I already have some drafts cooking. New content is coming!
For now, I just wanted to say hi! To anyone already familiar with me, and to those of you who aren’t, I’m Rachel. I write about WordPress and Accessibility. I’m excited to engage with readers again, and look forward to sharing what’s in this brain of mine. Stay tuned!
